Angry Need an Estimate

Yeah, anybody have a rough idea of how much money it would cost to replace: full bed side, rear bumper, rear tailgate, and so far that's it. Basically some drunk kid got pissed off at me and rammed into the back of my truck from like, a 45º angle, just pushed the rear pass. side of the bumper, into the fender side, and the tailgate is fucked up a little. He took off and I grabbed his plates(not literally) and continued to chase him for awhile until(I was talking to the cops at the same time) and they told me to let up on him. But the cops have his cell phone, address, license plate, home town, all that shit, his full name. The cop I went to wrote down the estimate or w/e for 1000 bucks, what do you guys think? It's a silver and black two scheme paint job, with red pinstripes, so what would we be lookin at for cost?

Re: Need an Estimate

Is a thousand dollars enough to charge him with a felony and teach him a lesson? I would think a grand would barely cover the paint job that your going to need.
I can't answer the estimate cost but I'm sure the year and make would help whomever. Posting a pic of the damage would also help.

It had just happened and it was at night but I'll take pictures today for sure, but I'm an idiot when it comes to posting them on AF, years ago on here it use to be easy to post pictures.

Re: Need an Estimate

1000 would not even cover parts. Try more like 2500 unless you just want to find another bed, and good luck finding one w/o rust!

Yeah, it's already got some mild surface rust but it's nowhere through being really bad. I've got a few pictures, is there anyone I could email them too and you could post them for me??

It fucked up the bedside more than I thought, in the picture you'll notice that the bedside is creased pretty good right above the fender so it's not just the back that got damage. The bumper is royally screwed and the tailgate's not in the best working condition either, but I don't think it's as bad as it sounds. Maybe, the driver side of the bumper is even screwed up from him hitting the pass. side. Stupid f-ing kid, oh well, I consider him very lucky, if this woulda happened to me 6 months ago the kid would very likely be in a hospital to say the least.

Now, for a greedy question, I'm pretty sure they'll get ahold of him, then they'll charge him with what, a hit and run, and I'll get a claim made for insurance, and his insurance has to pay me that money??

I purchased a new rear bumper for a 1994 K1500 sportside in January of 2004 for 199.00 + 35.00 S&H from LWM Enterprises for my truck. That was the best price I could find after much searching. I noticed that fleetside bumpers seemed less expensive during my search. You can use that with other feedback for the other parts.

Thank you a ton!!!

First pic: Yeah that's the bed side, was straight and smooth, now there are two of those dents, and the crease right above the fender there, please mind the rust, it's a 92, ha.

Second: Crunched it pretty good.

Third: Before I knew about the bedside being bent I looked at that and didn't think that it the metal was fixable there.

Fourth: Something of his rode up top, smeared that plastic or w/e, then the tailgate opening from that side is screwed up, and so is the open cirlce part for removing the tailgate.

Fifth: yeah yeah, the tips are plenty rusted I know, but yeah, just another pic.

Sixth: Crrrrunch...wavy bumpers, style of the future.

Seventh: To think that the bumper was once straight, and yes it messed up the driver side, it's lower than it should be. Yup, my license plate number, pray that none of you ever see that, haha j/k. Some small rust spots but I dont' care, only thing wrong with my truck is the visual, rust, etc. If you guys can name something that's missing from my truck you got a good eye...it's nothing to deal with the back end from this accident or anything.
