Stripped spark plug thread
Hi,
On my way home today, #1 plug blew out of the cylinder head on my '95 Aurora. According to the Aurora shop manual, the heads have a pressed in powdered metal insert. Does anyone know if this can be repaired with a heli-coil? Can the inserts be replaced? |

Correction, The manual says the valve seats are powder metal. Does anyone know if the helicoil or timeserts will fix this? Will the head have to be removed?

If anyone is interested, the people at Time-Serts have a kit especially for repairing blown out spark plugs in aluminum heads. With inserts, it costs about $225.00. According to the the people at Time-Serts, the repair can be done without removing the head. I'll let you know how it works once I have the parts and get the job done.
