I have a '02 LT x-cab with the stereo/single CD/Bose speaker setup. The last few months it's developed an interesting habit. Sometimes I get an annoying static out of the front speakers when I first turn it on (not the rear and it sounds at first like a blown speaker) . It goes away after a few minutes. It does it most, but not all the time and when it's working properly, the sound is good. It does it with either CD or radio. This leads me to believe that it's the radio and not the speakers which is malfunctioning.
QUESTION: Is anyone else our there in cyberland having this problem? Is there a cure other than taking it in (I hate having to do that)? I have a feeling I need an appointment!!!

Re: boogered radio question!!
Well, I used to have this problem with my '76 Lincoln. The back speakers would hiss/crackle when I turned them on. They would go to normal after a couple minutes.....and sound great. Its like my speakers needed to warm up, to run smooth. Unfortunately, I have no remedy for this problem.....So I can't help you. Sorry

welcome to the bose stereo. i would say the bose amp is going out. and i am not sure where it is located but the radio and speakers are most likely fine. if you want to replace the amp it will cost a pretty penny. ur best bet would be get a new cd player aftermarket and run new speaker leads from radio to speakers. will give better sound quality and will get rid of stock junk. thats my opinion

anything you buy from a store is gonna be nice bose stuff, but all that is in your truck is a cheap bose amp and everything else is the same as any other truck. they charge you like 500 for the option and really should cost like 100.

Re: boogered radio question!!
So you are saying the speakers that say Bose are not????? And that the standard 8 ohm seakers hook right up to the 4 ohm system???? Now I am really lost in the cheap seat section......

they are bose but are not really high quality bose speakers like you would buy from a store. maybe i am wrong but i have never seen anything really that great of quality from a factory system.

another example of the quality is in chryslers that have the infinity system in them. the speaker are just cheap paper speakers and aftermarket infinitys are alot better quality by have rubber surrounds and silk dome tweeters. bose does not make car audio except for factory gm's. all im saying is it my opinion bose factory systems are not all that they seem or say they are.

I was taking a careful listen this morning on the way into work...The front speakers really do sound cr@ppy. I'll have to pull the grates over them and take a look and see how they compare to a high quality Bose home speaker....Bummer Guess I might have to add some stereo stuff to the wish list.

Re: boogered radio question!!
My old '84 Olds Toronado (my high school pimpmobile
that I REALLY loved) had a factory Bose system in it. It worked pretty well.
