Changing alternator belt on 2.5

I have to replace the belt on my 86 with 2.5 ltr. Do I have to remove the drive belt first? If so, how do I do that? I was looking for a place where I can loosen a pulley but couldn't find a place. I'm a novice just looking to save money, all help appreciated. Thanks.

If you have a multi belt setup then your adjustment will be on the components like the alternator and such. There will be no tensioner pulley. They were designed for serpentine belts.

I found adjustment on the power steering pump. I loosened the two bolts for the adjustment but it is not budging. Help.

Re: Changing alternator belt on 2.5

If it is like most of the power steering pumps on the 2.5 there are three bolts that hold the power steering pump. You might of missed the one under or on the bottom of the pump.

The bottom bolt is usually located behind the pulley, and will require you to put an extension through the holes in the pulley to remove.
