el guage install tips

So it's searchable: reverse glow el guage indiglo installation

Things i wish I would have known when installing my el guages...

1) route all the wires off to the top far right (when you look at the guages), dremel a hole and run the connectors threw there. From there you can toss the voltage regulator into the little compartment with the heater.

2) ground wire to the right bolt at the bottom of the guage cluster area

3) yellow/red wire fron the second pin block (from the left) is the one you need to get the el's to come on with the lights. The picture on the one website was hard to see...

4) If your car is like mine just turning on the lights will not produce enough voltage to power the el's. Start the car up with the guage cluster out. Wait a few seconds after turning on your lights and they will come on... I dissassembled 3 times and checked connections because they would not come on.

5) wiretie your wires back.

6) Take a deep breathe when you finally get it all back together

IMHO definately not worth the time I took me to get it to all fit and work nicely. I had the disadvantage however of having dealer installed radar detector wiring in the cluster which made it a bit harder.

Tommorow strut bar and build a sub box...
