Question s10 tailgate cables

I need to replace the tailgate cables on my s10. I looked on ebay and found some but here is the question. Is there any way I can replace just the cable or do I have to replace the whole metal piece that it is attatched to with it? I couldnt find a way to detatch it.

I got mine on ebay from this seller seattle_guy2001. when you buy em in the comment window ask them to include the pin and clip for the cable, I recieved a pair of cables from him at $20.20 shipped. All you have to do is take the bolts off the steel latch assembly that the cable is atached to, put a piece of wood behind it and drill the head off the attaching rivit off. Then install the new one with the pin and clip. It took me longer to pull my drill and tools out than it took me to install the new cable.

They are on eBay now. Just ask them for the pins and follow the above instructions.

He's right you DO NOT have to replace the whole assembly. When I got mine off of ebay they came with the pins and snap rings. All you have to do is grind or drill out the studs on the latch assembly. It is not hard and saves money.
