progress: datsun 510 chop top

hey everybody... i figured i'd give you all an update on my datsun 510 chop top model... it has been in some of my older threads, so if you want some older progress, its in there.

well im almost reald for paint on the body and such, as the top is finally all sanded down to my liking, with the shaving of the window trim for a cleaner look. i also moulded the included front lip into the front body panel for cleaner lines. i am also going to leave it bumper-less.

as you can see, i also made a cowl hood for it., and here is the reason why:

and here is a rear shot for good measure:

c+c appreciated. thanks!

I dont think there is an engine that HASNT been dropped into the 510. this car is notorious for odd ball engine swaps so hey.... why not?

Re: progress: datsun 510 chop top

yep. a flathead... but i was debating from a varitey of different american engines, and i basically chose this one because i liked how it looked with the air filters and all, and because it fits really well in the engine compartment. and yeah, freakmech is probably right there are so many diff engines ppl swap into 510's.. which i think is sweet... like this drag 510 i saw last weekend that ran 9's.. he he he

Did you have to cut the firewall to fit that engine in. I had when putting straight 6 to my 510.

Re: progress: datsun 510 chop top

i havent fitted the firewall yet, but im basically 90% sure that i wont have to mod the engine bay at all, the hood was the only thing that needed to be changed, as the engine is pretty small. but i may have to modify the exhaust and headers for it, and im also planning on making a straightpipe exhaust, possibly out the sides.
