battery light

This is a little confusing some one might be able to help. the battery light in our 1996 cavalier comes on after 35mph and kicks off when we hit 68mph. It dosn't always come on driving it the city but always on the highway. Any answers? Oh we've had the battery checked and each time is fine also put in new alternater awhile back that shoots checking the battery again.

Does it do this between the speeds or between a certain RPM range?
Id recommend checking your electrical connections to/from alternator. As well as your battery terminal connections, make sure they are all tight and free of corrosion. Normally a alternator should be charging around 13-14.7 volts, if you have a DVOM you could check it. Have you had your alternator load tested, most auto parts stores can do it for free around here. Hope that helps.

Re: battery light

I work at our local advance and i see people coming in with that problem all the time. and it is confusing but 9 times out of 10 it's a bad connection. clean your terminals real well and make sure the wires are tight. just like checkmate said. he was right there. that really should solve your problem
