So I have a 95 beretta with 80k on it its the 2.2, it hasnt been well maintained. it eats a bit of oil and th oil light has been known to come on , maybe once in 2 yrs
So i'm drive down a side street not giving much gas and the car begins to missfire for a sec then dies all together. hasnt started since- just a nice steady sound comming from the sarter motor. i get it back to my house and check it out. -Its not getting fule into the cyliders, ( at least i pretty sure) -getting spark _fuel pump works -fuel is getting past the fuel fiter -i poured gas in the intake manafold and got it to turn over a bit (and lit myself on fire) So now i want to do a ecm check- i have a 12-pin ALDL connection, all the websites tell me to short the A pin and B pin and i'll get a blicking check lite but on this car only th A pin and the M pin exsist. Nothing on the web covers this, only my haynes repair manual tell me i cant short it. If somone could help me trouble shoot this it would be appreceated, also this is the first time i'v ever worked on a car so try an be spicific on locations and what stuff looks like, thanx |

Re: Cant get error codes/ car wont start
Your car is OBDII you will not be able to check the codes without a code scanner. And you are correct you probally messed it up trying.

ya, well i had some $3000 scanner hooked up to it and it made a phyical connection cus the machine turned on but it coulnd get a connection... not that i know much about cars but my little auto zone book says that only the 96 beretta has the OBDII conection but eitherway the scanner use should have worked...so if it wasnt the ecu to begin with thtat seems to be fryed now too, right? when i disconnected the ecu i got no spark so its working to some extentwhat are the odds of it being the mem chip on the ecu? also to check to see if my fuel injecters are getting a signal i bought a multi-meter but i dont know what im looking for...what kind of voltage- i got no reading until i put the car to on then a steady 4 somthing(not sure the scale) what should i be looking for when i crank it?
thanx |
