Re: blower

The fan switch comes apart on the Metro alot. I use zip ties to fix them. The switch is all plastic and the top pops loose causing the internals to loose contact. The A/C circuit feeds through the fan switch so when the fan is off the A/C circuit is off.

The blower for the heater and A/C are one in the same. The one and only blower sits below the glove box. The system works by blowing air through the evaporator into the heater core, then out. When you have the air on, the control valve to the heater core is closed. This allows the cold air from the evaporator to travel through the hearter core and out. If you already knew this, ignore my babble, if not I hope it helps.

Re: blower

The switch is what you slide to adjust your fan speed. You will need to remove the 4 knobs and the 2 screws that hold the face of the HVAC controls. The switch is on the top right.

Re: blower

There are pressure switches in the A/C system. A high pressure and low pressure but if the blower does not work and the A/C switch does not light up when pressed, the system won't work anyway. You need to get the blower working before we get to the pressure switches. The blower switch may be the whole problem.

Re: blower

If the blower was working before your friend looked at the A/C you might want to check the fuses first to see if one is blown. I should have thought of that before, sorry. It could be that in the process of troubleshooting the A/C problem, he/she inadvertantly shorted something to ground blowing the fuse which runs the whole blower/ A/C circuit. I do not have a manual with me here at work so you may need to just look at them all and see if any are blown. I think it was a 20A (yellow) fuse. The fuse box is located under the dash on the drivers side left of the steering wheel.

Re: blower

The relays control the fans and A/C clutch. The blower has no relay, just a fused, switched lead from the ACC circuit.
