Question Torque Steer, Bump Steer, Banging Front End

Has anyone come up with a fix for the annoying torque steer in the 2003 V6 AWDs? How about the bump steer on uneven pavement? The rattling front end? And what about the crazy sensitive steering on zero?

I'd expect any or all of these problems on a `71 Pinto, but they are baffling and annoying on a Saturn. The dealer replaced some front end doohickus under warranty which reduced some of the front end clatter for a while. Driving it on SW Colorado county roads made me fear for losing major pieces.

The torque steer is as bad as on a Dodge Omni (remember those?). Are there some front end adjustments that can reduce this?

I've test driven a 2005 V6 AWD, and it's way better. None of the torque steer and none of that other stuff. What gives? At least my wife likes it, but it makes the family carsick.

ur prob never going to get rid of the tourqe steer, they have fixed the problem with the 2005 vue with the new honda engine, it still has slight tourqe steer but far less then the 2003, for the front end noise its prob stablizer links, they tend to go a lot on the vue. for bumb steer it could be from bad controll arm bushings, tie rods, ball joints etc... i hope iv helped

Re: Torque Steer, Bump Steer, Banging Front End

My 2004 AWD Vue with the Honda engine has a bit od torque steer, but not real bad. The front end noise suggestion by holdemjunke is good advice. The sway bar link is not very durable, after a couple years the boot gets a hole in it and the grease dries out. Mine made a popping noise when turned to the left. it is not a tough fix, and only about $45 for a new link bar.

Re: Torque Steer, Bump Steer, Banging Front End

they're actually on the third or fourth design swaybar link now. if you have anything older than an '05, there are new links available. they're not the same as before. there are different parts for the left and right sides.
if your noise is a constant clattering/rattling noise over rough surfaces/rough roads, tell the dealer to put new brake caliper pin bushings on the lower pins and to grease both pins. and grease them alot. i drive the vues every day, and here this noise on every one of of them. some complain about it, some don't. really, i don't think the new bushings are needed. if they would just put a little more lube on the pins at the factory, they would save themselves alot of warranty dollars.
