issues wiring a stock tach gauge cluster
Well ive wiring in the factory gauge cluster on my 94 escort. the only problem is that I have no tach. Yes i know, ive heard of the EDIS wire, and ive tapped it. well i ran a voltage tester on all three wires just checking if they checked out, well Im gettin 12 volts to the power, im gettin a good ground, and the wire ive tapped is putting out a reading when i start the car and rev it. but yet the tach doesnt move at all! ive also tried another tach gauge and plugged it in and adjusted the blue screw on the top and nothing.....could anyone help me on this?

Putting in a factory tach cluster in a non tach car can be a nightmare. It seams that ford mercury dosn't want us to do that so easy. I would recomend just putting an after market tach in. I had a simular prob when i put in a fact. tach cluster. I had to repin the connector going into the cluster, thanx to an alldata printout i aquired, plus sence my car didn't come witha factory tach i had to run a wire under the hood . Its a pain in the a$$. Also when repinning the connector you discover that alot of the warning lights are in diff places on the two diff clusters. It took hours to do and what makes it even harder is that there isn't alot of slack in the wires so most of the repping is dune with the connector under the dash board. Good luck with it, like I said i would just put after market tach in it .

Re: issues wiring a stock tach gauge cluster
no its already done....thats the thing...everything works ok, BUT the tach.....its like the tach drive motors dont work...but i know they do cause i mean one out of the two i have just HAS TO work. but yes i understand what youre sayin, but i have already soldered the wires around neatly, the only problem is the fact that my tach doesnt work! its all wired in and everything!
