no power to the computer

Hey guys,
hope someone can help with this. I have a 1996 Ram van and I went to emissions testing to find there was no power to the computer. Brought it to my mechanic who tested fuses and other electrical connections, and could not find anything that was not working. The computer worked fine before, but now nothing. The van runs fine otherwise, though I did read a few posts on here with problems I also had fixed (i.e. fuel pump) which ended up being connected to their computer. Anyone have an idea on this one, what it might be, how much it might be, or where I can look for help? 30 days and counting until the 'fail' must get off my van from emissions (can you believe even though they found no power, the still took my $20 and considered it a fail???)
