Distributor

The distributor on my friends 1st gen b16a has a melted rotor and a bent shaft, so he needs a new one. On his 89 d16 motor hes got a brand new distributor, will it work on his b16a?? visually it looks identical, but we arent sure.

Well in theory it shouldnt work, but Iv heard some people claim that it does.

His best bet would be to use one from an early delsol VTEC, or GSR teg. He needs one from a pre 95 car with OBD I. One from a later car might work, but they changed the dizzy and VTEC solonoid at some point after 1995. (but i dont know when)

I can get you a brand new one for a 1st gen B16a from Honda here, but it will cost about US$600.

The problem with useing one from a D series engine, is even if it does fit, the ingnition timing curve will be differnt. At the lest you won't ever make full power, at the worst you could damage the engine with detonation.
