95 blazer with weird problem

This all happened out of the blue the other day...

My parking brake light stays on even though the brake is not engaged... I have to press down further, not necessarily harder, on the regular brakes before they do anything... and my turn signals worked intermittently for a few days and now don't work at all....

Any thoughts or suggestions???

what that light means is either A. ur brake fluid is low, or b. brake pressure is lost... which means a broken line, bad master cylinder, etc...lt me know what you find

I found a leak in the line that goes from the front to the back and I found the spots where I would have to disconnect it. I called carquest and they sell straight brake line. Is this something I want to try or would it be best to take it in?

Re: 95 blazer with weird problem

Guys, it is a parking break, it is cable operated. It has nothing to do with the brake fluid system.

You need to get your emergency brake cable and assembly fixed plus check your turn signal flasher.

blazerlt...I know for a fact that light will light up if u lose brake pressure , or have low fluid in the system...i am ase certified in brakes...it is possible that the e-brake switch is screwing up, but if he found a leak it most likely would be that...if u look under the truck.there is a proportioning valve if he has drums in the rear...on this valve there would be a sensor... and on the master cylinder also there is one...I had an 88 monte ss that the brake light came on it was a leak in the line as soon as i fixed it, bled it, all was good and from the symptoms he was describing of pushing down the brake pedal farther, sounded liek a leak to me

I am talking about the parking brake. Not the normal brakes, the PARKING BRAKE. It is cable operated, NOT FLUID OPERATED, CABLE operated.

I'm pretty sure he's right about it being fluid related. I've never seen that light come on except when I've had the parking brake on, so that's what I assumed it was, but I removed the back wheel on the driver's side and found a pin sized hole in the bend of the brake line and brake fluid streams out of it when you push the brakes down. I have a friend who's a mechanic with a bender who said he'll just replace that line for me.

I'm on to the turn signal problem now. The hazards work, on the dash and the actual lights themselves. The turn signals don't, but everything else that switch (?) does works. The wipers work, the high beams work and the cruise control works. Any thoughts on that one?

I really appreciate the help. I've done a few things to the car myself (replaced the front differential with the help of a friend), but I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to cars.

Someone suggested its the flasher signal relay... does anyone know where it's located? We looked under the dash but couldn't find it anywhere.

the e-brake light will come on if there is loss of pressure in a braking system...it doesnt only light up for the e-brake engaged or disengaged

I took out a few more screws and found the relay to the left and behind the cigarette lighter, which must have been what you meant by the center knee bolster. I switched the 2 relays back there and now my turn signals work and the hazards don't work, so that must have been my problem.

Thanks again for all your help.
