WIP: A horse of a different color

Well...here she is. My F50 in progress. Far from perfect, but I'm pretty happy with it so far. Go easy on me, this is only my 2nd model that I'd complete. The first model I ever tried to do was an Enzo Ferrari, and that was one of those "I'm gonna do it myself, I don't need anyone's help" things. Needless to say that didn't go so well so I abandoned it without ever even touching the body.
This is after all of the clearcoats, but without any polishing. I've got another week to wait before any polishing can be done. It's Cobra Colors Azzuro California with Cobra Colors High Gloss Clear Coat. Great stuff and I plan on using his stuff anytime I can.

That color looks great on the F50. Exceptionally well done, especially considering this is only your second project. I'm glad to hear the paint is working out to your satisfaction and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished model.

Thanks guys. And sorry for the shotty pictures. I took those real quick and posted 'em up before running out to work. I'll try to get some better ones tomorrow. I know the headlight buckets don't look perfect, but they do when the lenses are over them, so it's really no big deal.

I have to say that Cobra colors paints are awesome. And thanks to Leon for all the help he's given me. The primer went on and came out MUCH better than the Tamiya primer, and it was so much easier to do and the quality is so much better than the Tamiya spray cans. I also like Azzuro California on the F50. I knew I had to do it when I say the picture of the only one that was ever that color, and is sadly red again

Sorry guys I know it's been a while since I've updated. Been having some real trouble with these CF decals. I just can't get them to work right. Not even over the wheel wells, which is really kinda basic. It's just that, if I don't get them on perfect, they don't slide well enough to get back into place. Even if they're soaked, and the surface underneath is soaked, they'll just rip if I try to move them
I'll get some pictures up tomorrow of the "finished" body. Just polished up and it'll have the lenses and all that jazz on there. Need some more Azzuro paint, though, to finish up the air inlets on the sides but that involves money so I'm not sure how long It'll be. I'll update again when the engine and stuff is finished, but I managed to rip the CF decal off of the interior even after it was clear coated (which is real cool, and by cool I mean annoying).

To get the decals to slide around a bit more, you have two options. Get some decal setting solution from Polly Scale, as it will allow more sliding. I don't mean solvent, just setting solution. Micro Set works too.

Your other (cheaper) solution is: spit. A little bit of saliva works wonders for sticky decals. Just rub it over the part you are going to decal. The rest of the process is exactly the same.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, will try that when I get the money to order a sheet of CF decal.

Okay, hit a problem area here. Anybody who's built this model, how did you go about masking the windshield? The Porsche was easy because there was an indent in the windshield around where you had to paint, so you could press tape into it. On this.....nothing. Not sure how to go about that
