Well anyway it depends on what you want to use it for.If u want to race it or use it for a daily driver. If you want to race it I would punch it 30 to 40 over get a good head job with port and polish,a solid lift cam with 525 to 630 lift forged pistons, rods, and crank. A good ignition system and a 750 carb with a good intake but make sure that cam , heads, intake and toque converter work in the same RPM range.Well it goes on and on but thats the way i would start.

here is what i done 2 my 400,bored 30 over so you will come out with 406ci. called ultradine cams ,they ground me a cam for my set up.
a hydralic cam . i personally would not go solid or roller unless u plan on running dirt track or something.i have 520 th lift but i pit 1.6 rockers instead of 1.52 and this gave a little more lift very crisp and fast chirp.
the duration is were u can fkkkkk up u mneed somewhere in the area of 290 or so keep under 300.a b&m super hole shot converter 3500 stall
also comp cams make a 1.6 roller tip rocker arm this is a wonderful set.
trw 4 eyebrowed pistons they are forged, use your stock rods no need
to spen money on of that.if you can find a set 441 OR 462 cast iron heads they work great port and polish. 2.02 ,1.6,elderbrock rpm performer intake it may range something like 1500 to 6500 thats good. a predetor carb works well or 750 dbbl pumper will moan.go to local prt store and get vaccum advance kit, this WILL get U running stout.i put this simular combo in 1980 malibu classic with a monte carlo rear end 373gears.the 1st time out at the strip she ran 7.56 et guys thats smoking on street tires. i am useD just a stock dist, all but the curve kit .headman headers flow master single chamber straight out the muff no tail pipe loose hp with tail pipe. my dist is just a stock electronic ignition.
