Front pump seal most likely.
Figure $350-$500 for removng and reinstalling the trans. Another $500+ for the pump seal R & R + whatever else may be damaged in there.

Half the time you can't understand the questions, other times a "search" would have yeilded an instant answer, and a BIG majority of the time some very important 'little' details get left out of the story.

I hear ya. I really like it when people don't give a year or engine at all, or the times when people start typing in the middle of a thought. A little background is kinda necessary when trying to give advise on fixing a problem.

Re: transmission leak

I always tell everyone I know, when trying to explain up to what happened, include everything, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, it might just be the key.

Oh, not taking a swpe at ya, but I have noticed on a few people, you asked 'em about year/model, but it was provided in the thread name, oops......

Eh hell w/it I am taking a swipe j/k

I know you're kidding...but, for your own sake and sanity, never use leak stop (of any kind) in a car...If it is able to plug a leak, what other little passages and ports inside of an engine or transmission will it also plug?

You could save some serious money if you could remove the trans and take it to a shop, then reinstall it. But not everyone has the tools or nerve to attempt a project that seems as big as a trans R&R. I did a trans R&R on a 91 Formula in just 1 day, not that hard.
On the subject of price. If the work is going to run you over $800 (not including R&R) don't do it (ask the shop first how much). There is a guy on E Bay out of N.C. that builds an excellent 700R4 trans with a 2k stall converter and sells them for $900...including shipping & 1 year warranty.

Re: Re: Re: transmission leak

I figured it was time for some major repairs, i just didn't want the Deer in the Headlights look when I take it to someone for an estimate. At least the sHoCk is over now. I have a friend that works on cars (oh boy) and i'm gonna see if he will tackle it first before I hit the streets looking for service. Maybe I can get a discount with my "Charm"..HA! now I AM kidding! It's my 6th Camaro - I don't care what I gotta do to it...was born to drive one and have been ever since i was 16 - although this one isn't the baddest - i'm attached & keeping it. Thanks to you all for the help, i'm gonna stick around & see what else i can learn..Thanks! Wing
