Re: My new ride....

It was actually designed for warhead testing...basically the thing went fast enough to simulate the speed of an acutal missle going through the air...mach 8.6 to be exact...scary stuff.

Re: My new ride....

I'd like to see video of it... I didn't see any on that page.

I know that thing is moving fast... but it's hard to comprehend speed that fast.. I wanna see it.

I'll try and find one...it was on the History Channel "world's fastest" special tonight...they had the worlds fastest production car(koenigsegg CCR) worlds fastest train(268 mph) worlds fastest roller coaster(128 mph) worlds fastest boat(317 mph) and the aforementioned rocket sled was simply "the world's fastest ride"(6,354 mph)

Re: My new ride....

well, the spaceshuttle has to be faster I'd think... it cruises at about 27,000 mph in orbit.

On reentry... not sure about that... sure it's fast as hell though.

Pretty good for a lifting body design glider!

Re: My new ride....

I thought we were talking land/surface vehicles here. Of course a space shuttle blasting into orbit or a jet plane will reach insane speeds.

Re: My new ride....

Yes, I meant land speed, not air speed...6,354 mph is fucking insane in the air...on the ground, it's not even comprehendable.
haha, gotta love the camera man on that video...it was out of the frame instantaneously...whoops!

I did a yahoo video search for "HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE"
It was the first of 3 entries to show up.

If I have a lot of time, it's only because I do not waste time searching for things that are found quickly and easily
