Left Rear door

I havent been able to open left rear door of my '91 astro and i tried to take off the panel but its almost impossible. Im trying to take off the plastic trim at the bottom to make some room to pull the panel off. But i dont know if itll come off, and if it does what i look for. I need to do it as soon as i can because the left tailight is out and i have to replace it. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Left Rear door

I had to remove the left rear door panel to fix the latch on my '89. It's been a while so my memory is fuzzy, but I believe you will find a few screws that need to be removed. I seem to recall the screws being towards the bottom corners of the panel, buried in the carpet upholstery on the panel.
There are also a few plastic snap in fasteners. I had to remove the speaker cover as well.

Once I got the screws removed, I very gently pulled the panel out from the door, working along the edges to find the points of most resistance. This is how I ballparked the location of the plastic snap in fasteners. I slipped a screw driver between panel and door feeling for the fastener so as to pry the panel as close to the fastener as possible.
