87 Dakota engine issue

Ok I have a mint 1987 Dakota with a 3.9 liter V6. I came off the interstate the other day and the engine just cut off. I thought it was the coil since it was the original one, so I replaced it. Nothing. I changed the pick-up and the SCC (spark Control Computer) and still nothing. The starter turns the motor over but it seems like there is an electrical problem. I checked the fuses under the dask (the only ones I know about) I know some cars have a second fuse panel. My questions are, Has anyone else had this problem and what was done to fix it?

Fuel pump? Or something w/distributor? Sounds like it lacks gas or spark.

I got it fixed it was the metal ring under the pickup. It had broken off the distribitor and was just sitting there.

Re: 87 Dakota engine issue

I am having the no start issue with my truck. What ring are you talking about and how did you fix it?
I have replaced the plugs, cap, roter, coil, i can't get the truck to start. It turns over but no go.

there is a metal ring under the pickup (what used to be the points) That ring should be attached to the shaft of the distributer. To remove the pickup there are two screws on the outside of the distributer that hold it in place. Unplug the connection and remove the pickup Then if the metal ring is loose it will cost maybe $80 for a referbished distribiter.
