Removing Catalytic Converter
I drive a 97 honda accord, special edition 4 door. It's been shaking a lot lately and I think it may because of the catalytic converter. For now I would just like to remove it (even though I know it's illegal) and then see if that fixes anything and if it does I'll get a new one. Does anyone know how I can take it out by myself?

Re: Removing Catalytic Converter
Shaking or rattling. I don't understand the problem. Shaking might be a motor mount. If you remove the catalytic converter, you need to replace it with something. Also if an O2 sensor is on the converter, the car won't run. The cat is bolted to the exhaust pipe.

Well you are right that you will have to replace the the cat with a test pipe or some sort of exhaust tubing to complete your exhaust yet im pretty sure you are wrong about the O2 sensor. The car should run with the cat gone, granted you replaced it with the test pipe. Your car should read some some sort of O2 problem or you should see something come up in your gauges. Yet in the long run, it should run. Whether it runs great is another thing...
