timing my 2g

i just got my motor back together and i'm not sure where to the timing marks on the crank pulley are. everything was taken apart so the marks i made during disassembly are useless. i don't really understand where the cams should be and where the crank pulley should be. can someone please clear this up for me. i want to drive my car, it's been 2 years!

Re: timing my 2g

Damn thats a long time. I'm not sure about the 2g but the 1g has marks on the cams they look like small notches there are two on each gear. The crank has a pin in the gear and it goes to a notch. You might want to get a repair manual to get the exact info for your car i'm not sure if it's the same on the 1g. Good luck getting the car going.

Re: timing my 2g

The writeup on www.vfaq.com for a timing belt job should explain all of this for you, and there are some pretty good pics.
