n/t BOV?

Okay, so I'm buying a Hahn turbo for my 99' eclipse GS n/t. I've all ready read quite a few threads that say this is a bad idea and you should just buy the factory turbo car. I got the car for free so I figured instead of going through the hastle of all that, I'll just spruce up this beast. I also figured that my insurance will still be for a non turbo car. Also if I were to buy a factory turbo car I would end up replacing the factory turbo/componants anyway. okay... I think I'm done explaining myself.

The kit I'm getting comes with a super 16G turbo and a 3000gt BOV. They claim it will be good for 18 psi. I'll only be initially running 5psi. Should I spend the money and get a better BOV? Will it help in anyway at such a low psi? I would really appreciate your advice.

Re: n/t BOV?

No the oem 3000gt both will be just fine no need to upgrade. Unless you just realy have to have a bov that sounds special or something. Please put your car and specs in your sig it helps everyone out for questions in the future.

Re: n/t BOV?

I dont see why its a bad idea to turbocharge a N/T eclipse. I also wanna advise you something, !!! The HAHN and STAR turbo kits are way overproced. Trust me, if you wanna spent your money on something good, get ventilated brakess, suspension, strut bars, get exhaust(3 " if you gonna really turbo it) , maybe a nice CF hood, some racing seats if you like em ,and then buy your kit seperatly. It will be a lot cheaper and you can come here and ask if the parts you want are good since I bet some one has it already or knows about them. Prepare your car before you turbo it. Hahn is selling for around $1000 a 420a turbo manifold which is really nice with a 20G turbo. The turbo itself coast around that price around the net but its on sale.

However, I advise you to do the stuff on top and then rebuild your engine with Howell Automotive and then turbo thge car.If you want power, you wont get much on stock internals. Dont buy the kit and kill your car. Prepare the car for handling the power. This is my advise to you. It will coast you around $3000 for a 20G turbo setup plus a Bottom rebuild kit for your 420a engine. The Star Kit comes around same price but you can run a lot less power and the engine will give away and blow in about 1-2 years if you wanna keep hearing the turbo spooling. Good luck on on your project. Hope you will be boosting soon too

The 3000gt bov will work just fine.

Wow thanks for the advice guys! I unfortunatly all ready spent to much on a hahn system and its on it way here as we speak. I do plan to keep it at only 5psi until I get the internals/exhaust done. I hope this will avoid any catastrophes for a few months. I'm going to try and document the turbo install process as much as I can and post it. If anyone has a stock gs-t or gsx side mount intercooler for sale let me know.
