Replacing Battery Cables

I need to replace the battery cables on my 94 Cherokee. It looks pretty simple until I followed the cable underneath the engine.
I tried to find something about this in my Chilton manual but they have nothing in there about replacing the cables.
Where the cables connect underneath the engine is hard to see. Is there anything I need to know about this part of the job? Are there any tricks or tips that could help me?

Ive would aslo like to know about this, ive been haveing some charging problems pretty much fixed now but still would like to go with a larger amperage(wd?) wire.

I replaced the battery cables on my 88 Jeep and found and increased power indication on my power meter (and the lights no longer dim when I run all my lights, fans, and accessories). Jeep seemed to get cheap when it came to installing battery cables.

Replace the cables with as big as will fit (I installed 4 awg).

Changing the cables is fairly straightforward. The positive cable connects to the starter under the engine. The negative connects to the engine block and may have a connector mid length that also connects to the body. Mine were also encased in a plastic conduit so they seemed to disappear too. Just follow them with your hand.

The only "trick" is that you may have to remove the starter to swap the + cable out. There's a boot that covers the connection. I had trouble getting the boot off (feared I would rip it), so I yanked the starter.

AH, 1 more trick, make sure you disconnect the battery ends first (neg first, then pos).
