Side Window Seal Replacement???

I just bought the new side window seals (old ones are rusted) & I hope to swap them this weekend on my '99 Durango.

It looks like I need to "simply" pry off the old ones - without scratching the paint - and pop on the new ones. Is there any trick to this? Is there anything I need to do (add sealer, adhesive, etc...)?

Done. These seals were more rusted than they looked - glad I caught it when I did.

The trick was to wrap a rag around a 1" rigid putty knife, slide it under the seal, and gently lift up at the rear corner. Once the weatherstripping began to lift a little, I could continue to pull up by hand and the entire piece lifted off. Replacement consisted of lining up the new seal starting in the corner, and then firmly pressing down along the entire top of the piece. The front window seals required that the front edge be slid in first (underneath the mirrors) and the back corner last. The rear window seals required that the rear edge be slid in first. I used a soft mallet all along the top of the seal to ensure a good, tight, fit.

Approximate time (including a thurough cleaning of the door under the seal) was 5 minutes per door. Cost of the seals is about $40 per door at the dealer.

I appreciate the heads up! I ordered from dealer and they wouldnt tell me how to do it, stated i needed some special tools and had to do a whole bunch of sanding and coating. But thanks again! ya saved me $ a window.
