98 Blazer AC low side service port shrader valve

I tried to top off the R134A charge in my 98 Blazer AC system the other day, and when I decoupled the hose from the low side service port, the shrader valve inside gave up altogether and started leaking. I tried to plunge it a few times to see if it might re-seat, but no luck. Soooo, I went down to AutoZone to get a new shrader valve, and they sold me the same parts you would put in your tire valve stems. My question is, are these acceptable for service in an AC system, or does anyone know maybe if the rubber used in these parts will not stand up to the refrigerant and oil in an AC system?

Well at first I would say they may have gave you wrong one. The correct does look the same but a little bigger than the ones use in R12 systems. The R12 valve is the same size as what is in your tires. R134 valves are a little bigger in size, other wise should work fine.

They gave me a little kit with 4 tire valves plus valve stem caps and a little 4 way tool for installing the cores or cleaning up valve stem threads.

Did the package say on it for AC shrader valve's? If not, take them back. I remember seeing the correct one's marked in a package at Auto zone.
