Question Motor Swap

Can anyone tell me how hard it is and what is involved in removing a quad four and putting in a 3.1 v-6 in a 1993 Grand-am

Re: Motor Swap

It is harder than putting a V8 in an old 39'. It envolves alot of little things. Older cars have no CPU, new ones do. But like this has been asked before,,i think.. anyway. You need the v6 transmission, the wireing harness i believe, the BCM, CPU, and all the v6 mounting hardware, u may need to driill new holes for the hardware to the different u-body, maybe not. might even need the rear suspension componets. this is no easy task in a new caar.
if you have the money, someone can trick the 4cyl. cars CPU to think the v6 is a 4 but it gets complicaated to the point of 'is this really worth it' when u can buy a V6 GA for rather cheap.

Re: Motor Swap

Don't think it'd be a good idea to buy into the LIM problem on the 3100 and 3400 v-6 motors...

What you mean LIM?

My goal is to put a LT1, or LS1 in a 2000 GA GT and make it AWD. Boost it up around 800HP! That would Super, Super SweeeeT! But I have more money than sense.
