beater car, slightly beaten too

so with rising gas prices, recently pulling my blown ka out for my swap, and having to wait for my brother to get some free time to get a clip and do the swap (looks like we gonna try doing vg30dett swap) i bought a beater car. '91 honda civic. bought it from my friend for 250$ it gets pretty good fuel economy. like in the title it's a bit beaten huge dent on driver side and such. he never really understood cars so gonna do some maintance on i. might also try to lean it out a bit more for better fuel not entirely sure. pretty stoked actually... not about owning a civic, but i finally have a great beater car. plus, when times when i don't need to drive my 240 i got an extra car... welp, probably a odd post to do or to be excited about but, eh...

What civic do you have? I think is alright, I thought it is going to be worse.
I have an EX which has a bit bigger brakes, stiffer suspension and 100 extra pounds of electrical goodies. I like the car as a daily driver, car is far from performance automobile.

um, think it's ex if my memory serves me right going to pick it up friday from my friend before he leaves for turkey. i don't think it has vtec it's only 1.5 liter surprised that it's even fuel injected. i really thought about doing one of the big vtec na civic swap in it for the hell of it just so i beat people with a 4door civic, but it really is just for me to beat around in when i don't have a reason to drive my 240.

nothing, i am not paying any labor, install, or anything except for parts. main reason for the choice of doing that swap. my older brother and 3 other partners own a performence shop. and they've been kind enough to do everything for me at cost of the parts. obviously, they want me to help (as i would myself because i want to learn everything about my car). only downside is i have to wait for my brother to get some free time. so that's why my car has been sitting at his shop motorless for about a month now. yeah, the idea came when we were pulling the motor. my brother was a doing a 300zx na to jdm z32 twin turbo swap on the lift beside us and we looked at the motor and wanted to see how easy it would fit. and it fit quite well actually neglecting some issue that will be done about exhaut and turbos so my brother made the sugestion and i agreed on it. i was just planning on doing s14 sr20det into it, but they and i both wanted to try something bit more different. will keep updated on everything probably will be month or so 'til we get started.

Re: beater car, slightly beaten too

The EX (1.6L) and some other 1.5 model had vtec (e-vtec for 1.5L). If it is 1.5 it is not an EX, and most likely not vtec. And yes it is a sohc, 16v though.
I plan on keeping my civic for daily driving, as it is fuel efficient and pretty comftorable car all around. Lots of space in the car, both front and back seats.

Re: beater car, slightly beaten too

pavlo-your right for 92-95 civics but he said he got a 91. 88-91 had 1.5L for ex/lx and dx hatch (i think there was a 1.3L too but not sure what model it was it)

none had vtec

and the 93-95(?) VX hatchback had 1.5L vtec-e motor pumping out a whopping 80 or so hp
