85 Z28 Fuel System
Ok, I've been working on my z28 for about a year now trying to restore some of the little things that have added up over the years. Finally got it back to where it was almost ready to go, and now I am getting no fuel to the fuel rail. I don't hear the fuel pump coming on with the ignition switch, and the pump has been replaced less than a year ago (one of the projects that started the restoring process). All of the fuses are good, as well as the fuel pump relay. I am at a loss, as it was just running two days ago. I did recently replace the steering column, as the old one was broken from an attempted theft (nothing like starting your car with a pair of pliers!!), but it has run since then.
Any help would be much appreciated. |

Re: 85 Z28 Fuel System
I believe there is another fuse you will find on the passanger side of the engine compartment near the battery that sends 12v to the f/p relay.
There is also a test port on the diagnostic link connector to test the pump, but I forget which one it is. What year is it? |

Ok, I checked under the hood, and all that I saw were the relay packs. Tried the diagnostic "G" to "E" port, and nothing happened. Battery was also low today. I had heard that it might even be a faulty ecm, in fact i have heard that from several people. Any thoughts?

Re: 85 Z28 Fuel System
That fuse is somewhere up around the battery, probably bolted to the fender. Two wires going to a little black box a little thicker than a fuse. The top should pull off to access the fuse. Don't search too hard though, I might be wrong and your car may not have it.
There is a member here named Morley who knows alot about these ecm's. I'd PM him and see if he has a suggestion. |

The ECM/fuel pump fuse is located on the RH fender near the battery. Find the red wire coming off of the battery terminal and follow it (not the batt. cable) it leads to the fuse. |
