1994 S10 Tailgate Handle Broke

1994 S10 Blazer, Tailgate T-handle fell off along with key assembly. Left hole you can see right thru tailgate.. Can't get upper glass open or tailgate down..Anybody know how to open window & Tailgate so I can take off back panel to replace latch..THANKS

I had the same thing happen, quite a pain...
In order to get the glass part open, you have to insert an L-shaped object and turn it counterclockwise. (I used a hex-key and a pair of pliers).
Try looking for the part that is supposed to be moved! After this, do the same thing turning the key clockwise to get the bottom of the gate open. You might want to reach in with your fingers to find the right spot, I believe it's located to the left, slightly abouve the middle of the hole!

Try to get that thing fixed asap. When I bought my (93) S-10 Blazer it had long ago lost the handle. You can use a screwdriver to open it, but, over time the linkage and release got bent. I tried to replace the handle a while back, but could not get it to work right. Will try again one of these days I guess, but would have been a heck of a lot easier to fix early. You can buy the part off Ebay pretty cheap.

Thanks for info... found the two little levers you mentioned.. unsuccessful in getting back glass open, I was able to move the bottom lever counter clockwise which should open glass but as usual no luck..Thanks for info it did help, I'll just keep trying.. thanks (david)

It does take a bit of force to turn the handle far enough. You don't happen to have the push button opener from the dash? That would help a lot! Maybe you should bend a piece of metal in the shape of a Z and try again. It really does work, I've had this problem on two blazers!

Hey It Works, I was able to bend a piece of metal and get it open, I was out of adjustment and latch was on a bind so it would not come open, I tripped the latch and hit a pot hole in the road and it came open, I've seen it all now. I was able to take off back of tailgate and install new latch... Thanks a bunch
