Question 1996 'Check Engine Light'

My engine light popped on today, so I took my car to AUTOZONE to get the free 'check engine light' test.
The guy couldnt find the 'data port' to plug his tester into.

Any clue as to WHERE?

THANKS for any help.

There is a 1"x6" plastic trim piece just to the right of the steering column & below the instrument cluster. It pops off to reveal the connector.
