Thumbs up Installing Factory Alarm. Can it be done?

I am wondering if the factory keyless alarm is already installed on my P10 ('96 G20). I have the factory alarm, but no keyless entry or remotes.

1. Is there another module that needs to be installed to get the key chain remote fob to work with my alarm system?

2. If so, anyone know the part #'s for the keyless module and remote?

3. Is there a site that shows how to install and/or where the factory alarm is located.

(Unfortunately, do not have a FSM or Haynes/Chilton type repair manual at this time to reference.)

The alarm is automatically set 30 secs. after the last door is shut.

Thanks!

I dunno, I thought that they all had keyless entry. Did you buy the car used? Maybe the guy stiffed you on the remotes.

Question

Well, that is what I was thinking, but I read a post that if your car did not have the Factory Leather Appointed option with keyless remote, then you did not have a keyless remote alarm.

So I am slightly lost on which alarm I have. I know for a fact that it is a Factory Installed Passive Alarm based on the owners manaul and the fact that I have the factory "SECURITY" blinking light on the dash when the car doors or trunk are open, then steady light when goes into the 30 sec setting.

So, when you say someone "forgot" to give it to me, then I should be able to buy the factory remote with FCC ID: A269ZUA073 - 700K922 and program it to be used with this alarm.

Thanks for the info

The remote will not work unless you have the reciever that comes with the keyless remote option. I was going to just add a keyless entry system but found a closeout top-line Ungo for dirt cheap that I bought just to use for keyless entry and ended up just added it as a secondary alarm with the features the factory one didn't have (keyless entry, auto-lock/unlock, motion/shock sensor, remote truck release, etc). Both alarms work seamlessly in tandem.

If you end up doing the same thing, all you need are the wire color codes for the alarm and for the G20.

Some manufacturers such as Clifford will not give you the color codes for thier alarms so you have to pay one of their dealers to install them for lots of $$$.

Thanks for the info. I currently have nothing aftermarket in the car to steal, but would like to have the keyless remote entry. I have a new door lock switch for a alarm that I never used. Maybe I'll get an aftermarket alarm and add that to it for the keyless remote. I alos have a perimeter zone unit and some other shcok sensors. I think I have a few other odds and ends around too.
