Rust on the back of my X
I have a 2003. And I've got the hatch rust going. The nissan dealer said that nissan won't cover it (they claim it is a issue with iron flakes from the train or truck transport, why that didn't happen on my last two silver nissans I don't know). From what I've read people are saying they should. Any suggestions on how to pursue this issue? contact nissan corp?

Re: Rust on the back of my X
Good luck. Open a case with Nissan consumer affairs - 800-Nissan1
There is a TSB on the problem, NTB01087, proving Nissan is aware of it. Their fix is to use a "clay bar" system to remove the particles, and you can buy the same sort of kit at an auto parts store or the like. More than you care to read on the problem and people's results at www.xterraownersclub.com in the problems/annoyances section of the forum. |

Re: Rust on the back of my X
Lots of posts about fixing this in the forums here.
![]() ![]() The "Mothers" brand clay is more expensive, but tends to not stick to your paint as much as the "Meguires". |

Re: Rust on the back of my X
yeah I read most of the posts, I ain't gonna pay to do it myself. I'll put some of that 3M clear car protection plastic stuff on the hatch if I actually get them to repaint it.

Re: Rust on the back of my X
Why 3M? Just use the clay every once and a while after you wash your truck and you're good to go. Keeping it waxed also hinders the buildup.
