Wheel Stud + Wobbling Problem

Hi i have a 89 le sabre i was wondering if the wheel studs can be replaced with the little kit from autozone or they are pressed on etc? Also i know its cheating but i recently got a flat and put tire sealer in the tire, two different times because it was running low again, i know i know, i shouldve replaced it. Anyhow, I used the sealent after riding probably half a mile on a pretty flat tire, afteri got the tire re inflated and sealed up nicely i put it on and drove, and the car is wobbling pretty bad, only from that same tire area the front left. I was wonderng wethier I should tow the car to have it looked at which will cost more than I can afford, or get two new front tires, and see if the wobble goes away? Mind you this car NEVER wobbled before, the ball joints are healthy, brake pads in good condition, nice rotors. Any ideaS? Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Wheel Stud + Wobbling Problem

If you put two cans of sealer in your tire, that would equal a half pound weight in the wrong place on your wheel. If your tire is still good, have it dismounted and pour out all the crap on the inside. Wipe the remainder out with a rag and plug the hole that caused the leak, then reinstall and rebalance. I used one can of sealer in an emergency recently, and it felt like a brick in the tire it bounced so bad, I can only imagine what two cans feel like.

Studs are easy to replace. Take a 1 lb ball peen hammer and knock the crap out of it. Then install a new one from the back side and use several washers and a lug nut to pull the new one in place. It helps to use an impact wrench for the install. Any tire shop should be able to do it for you for $5.00.

Re: Wheel Stud + Wobbling Problem

wheels neet balance, like HotZ28 said, you added 2 cans of fix a flat on the farthest point out on the tire, you need to get that crap off of it and plug/patch it. Then a rebalance is in order, the tire shop out to do this for 15 bucks or less
