Weird noise help

I need some help please:
I drive a 2000 Maxima, and when i turn on the car after it stays in one spot for a little while, it makes this whining/rattling noise. Only for a few momets sometimes 2 or 3 times. It is definatly comming from the engine bay, but i don't know what it is. And now lately it started making this ticking noise when i start the car. The ticking noise also goes away after a little while.
I don't know if i should take it to the shop, or if it is a minor problem just fix it myself. Does anyone know what it might be?

Sounds ? like pwr steering pump. Start by tightening all 3belts. Buy new/replace if not swapped during last 30k.

Oil & filter change first. If the problem is VTC, repair is costly. VTC might be bypassed by grounding the system; lose some hp over 5k rpm.

Thanks for the help, I will check out the belts, and the noise is comming from where the belts are.

Most often belts.

If the rattling noise is high, continuous, drive to a Nissan shop. Ask for diagnosis, but dont let them repair it before getting quotation from somewhere else also. VTC noise is typically 'just' annoying, but if one of the chains has problems (or its tightening roller?), that should be corrected before smtg breaks. Chain breakdown will be costly. The noise may also be just normall; at Nissan they should know...
