99 Aurora
Hello all, I am new to the board and have found a ton of great information here in the past 3 months. I purchased my 1999 Aurora after selling off my 2003 Expedition. Gas prices. I loved the car right away and was excited. Then I woke up one morning and there was a red puddle underneath that trailed with me down the driveway. Thank the lord for extended service contracts! 3 trips to the dealer later, I have a new transmission and new front axle and all is well in my world again. I do have a question, I have read the overheating issues that are all over this forum and have noticed that on hot days, mine also seems to creep up to around 220 degrees. I never goes over that but it fluctuates back and forth. Now that it is cooler, it only does it during long stops at lights. Something I can do here or do I live with it as it never hits the red lines?
Thanks and glad to be here! |

Re: 99 Aurora
hitting the first line above 200 is no problem and ok if just a little over that.
these cars do run hotter than most. the fluctuation you see is just the thermostat working.

Re: 99 Aurora
These cars do run hotter then most cars according to my GM dealer that covered the fuelrail recall on my Aurora. Because of this I use only Mobil 1 in my car for added protection. On the interstate my car stays at 195 degrees but if its hot outside and I do get stoped at a light for any period of time it will go up and start bouncing between about 220 and 210. If you listen carefully you will hear you cooling fans kicking on cooling the coolent down and then shutting off only to be repeated when the temp rises again.

I guessing that the first gen auroras actually had listed on their temp guages. Not just hot and cold? My 02 doesn't have the numbers. Anyone know the range of the temp display. I'm guessing it's somewhat similar to the first gens., maybe?

Thanks for the feednback, I listened for the fans to kick on last long drive a took in town and they seem to be working well. The car came with Turanza tires, LHS's I believe and they have some wear. Do I replace with the same or shop around, anyone have a tire that works well and is affordable? Thanks again!

Re: 99 Aurora
I have had the best luck with Yokahama Avids. Long, even wearing, great grip and quiet.http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....Model=Avid+H4S
