Question Replacing Tracer Alternator

I need to replace the alternator on a 1995 Tracer with 1.8L engine, manual transmission. Can the alternator really be removed from underneath the car if the splash shield is removed?

It looks very tight. I'm really hoping the transaxle half-shaft doesn't have to come out...

Re: Replacing Tracer Alternator

i have a 99 tracer wagon. it was a very tite fit, but it did come out and I put a new one in and works just fine. I changed the serpentine belt at the same time and so had to remove the front right wheel and wheel-well skirt so that may have had something to do with making it easier to get at the belt tensioner.
