92 tracker fuel problem

My father has a 1992 tracker (1.6 tbi) that wont start. It gets spark and will kick over for a second using starting fluid. I have replaced fuel pump, filter and get gas all the way to the injector but injector doesnt spray. I pulled out the injector and sprayed it off but didnt help. I tried doing the "quick fix" jumping a wire from the coil to injector but didnt work. I tried to test the power from the ecm to injectors red wire with a test light and got nothing but not sure if it gives enough power for the light as I also tested the light into the coil and it didnt light either??? My guess is that it is the injector or ECM but not sure if there are any fuses or relays between the 2 that might be causing the injector not to spray fuel? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Jay

Re: 92 tracker fuel problem

i'd look to the ecm first, seems to be the most common problem with trackers. if you do a search in the forum you can pry find more info on the topic

KaotiK,

Well, that was it. I had the Computer checked and it was burnt out. I shipped it to a guy in Minnesota and he said it was not repairable. Now Im stuck unless I want to pay $600 for a new one. Any suggestions? My ECM #s are:

E2T41281M

Anyone have a used one of these for sale???
Thanks for any info

Re: 92 tracker fuel problem

there are several places you can get used ones and trust me 600 is a lot cheaper than what my wifes 98 metro would cost the dealer wants 2500 and everywhere else wants like 1800 brand new. but one place you can try is eauto at www.eautoinc.com give them a try

Re: 92 tracker fuel problem

I was having the same problems with my 90 tracker. Sent my ecm off, said it was burned. (Actually had a hole burned through it!) Bought another used one, and my mechanic said it was bad too. Sent it back and bought another one. Mechanic called and said it was running. Finally! Drove all right first day but a little slugish. Second day, it let me get half way out my drive way and died. Called my mechanic and he told me to unplug the connection going into the injector. Unplugged it, tried to start it, re hooked connection, started up great. Went running around all day, and it ran great. Thrid day, couldn't even make it out the driveway after 2 hours of screwing with it. Now, what are the chances I got another bad ecm? Or could it be something else? My mechanic says it's getting too much gas, which I believe because my fuel mileage was cut in half! Please help.
