Lo speed ABS problem FIXED!

Get a can of compressed air from Staples, use the black plastic straw and blow out between each tooth in the ABS ring. I FINALLY got the 6-7 mph anti-lock pumping to stop after I did this. FINALLY, I can plug the fuse back in and don't have to look at those two warning lights on the dash.

Here is a list of tools you will need to do this job. I have a 2000 Chevy Sliverado, 2wd.

Floor Jack and jack stands- 7/8 lug wrench for removing tire(s)
18mm wrench and socket for removing brake caliper
5mm allen wrench for removing wheel speed sensor bolt
needle nose pliers and flat tip screwdriver for removing the sensor cable clamps-NOTE: UNPLUG Sensor before doing any work on this
small socket (?mm) for removing bracket holding brake line
Q-Tips for cleaning excess grease from sensor bore
can of compressed air from office supply store or computer store

Might be a good time to replace brake pads if needed at this time seeing you got brake caliper disassembled

If you have grit-rust and other grime inside sensor bore on the ring teeth you might want to try brake cleaner first and if that doesn't work use a degreaser. I recommend using the compressed air if all you have is grease between the teeth, rotate hub until you can physically see every tooth is clean. This is exactly what I did to FINALLY get my abs problem to go away. Now I don't have to worry about rear-ending a family of four at a stop light!

If anyone wants to talk in person about doing this themselves and needs some reassurance I will gladly answer any questions. I have had both sides disassembled twice so I know what I am talking about.

Thw first thing i would do is call GM and see if your vehicle is part of the recall for that exact problem. 1-800-263-3777 have your vin# handy. I keep getting a recall notice for this problem even though it is not the correct info for my truck and i am not having any abd probles either............yet.

Kenny thanks for trying to help this is the number for gm canada the recall isnt in us yet the gm us number is 800-222-1020

you will get the abs problem. I have a 2004 4x4, i drive it like a old 4x4 thru water and every thing. when its time to go to work I am on the road. weather never stoped me yet.

in 5 months i had started getting the abs problem big time. after driving the truck 20 miles or more. took the truck to the dealer thay said i must of hit some sand. well it has never done it at the turn off at work, tons of sand, its only a 8 miles from the house.

took a hole bunch of trips befor the dealer would even conferm that i did have a problem. a ton of proding to get them to even drive the truck more than 1 mile around town, of corse it took them almost hitting a 40k truck sitting in the lot. then thay said it would take up two weeks of there time to find the problem. My anser was ok as long as i have a truck to drive in the mean time. thay laffed and said we only have the rental car it that bearly runs and cant hold all my tools.

needless to say i found the fix on the net. that cleaning trick works wonders.

I would say find a new dealership to take your truck to. They suck!
