Power folding mirrors

Hey, I Have the power folding mirrors on my 2003 Silverado. Does anyone know of a way to rig them to fold automatically when i lock the doors or put it in park?...I have to push the button to do it right now..just think it would be slick if it did automatically. Any help would be appreciated!!

Re: Power folding mirrors

Why would you want your mirrors to fold in everytime you lock the doors or shut off the truck. Lets say you are driving through a "rough" neighborhood and want to lock the doors, now you do not have side mirrors. Not to mention i am sure those little motors would not las all that long being operated every single time you shut off the truck.

I have those mirrors on my 2004 - and I can't imagine wanting to fold them everytime I put the truck in park. Sounds like a sure way for premature failure.

sorry, i didnt explain what i mean. basically what i want is 4 the mirrors to fold in when i put the truck in park. I park my truck on the street and my mirror has been cliped by two trucks so far.....and i know you are like well then just fold it in...but its always when i forget to..or im in a rush. I figure doing this is cheaper than another mirror. Ihave seen an escalade with this feature. Please let me know if you can help...Thanks

Re: Power folding mirrors

So where's the "button" for the mirrors now? I'd think a little rewiring to the ignition system would do the trick. That should be simple enough!!!

The button to fold the mirrors in, is the same button you use to adjust the mirrors(adjust up and down side to side) . You simply hold down the button to either (the right side of the button to fold in) and (left side of button to fold out). I agree with you, it seems like it should just be some wiring...i just need an idea as to where to start. Thanks.

You would need a schematic to locate the relay/wire colors for the mirrors. Then you would have to locate a relay that is activated ONLY when truck is turned "OFF", like the delayed power equipment circuit. I definitely think it could be done, and would be a very cool mod. You HAVE to do this and post how you did it

Re: Power folding mirrors

I've seen a lot of cars come with that from the factory. They are mostly european cars though because in europe everything is a lot tighter as far as driving goes.

it seems like yuo need a pulse time relay and need to find the park sense wire and then wire it to the mirrors.
