Where's the best place for brakes ?

I want to defiently get new pads. I just dam near rebuilt my brake system with new master cyclinder, wheel cyclinders, rotor, pads, shoes. I want to stop better for autocross. Last year the stock system was okay but i want to upgrade this season. I was thinking at least pads and probally crossdrilled or slotted rotors. Anyone have any recomendations and prices ?

For auto-x, my new system consist of...

Bremo OEM rotors
Axxis Metalmaster pads
Goodridge stainless braided brake lines
ATE superblue Dot 4 brake fluid
And my drums were rebuilt from the ground up

I just got new pads and rotors (same ones as mentioned above, before i ran EBC green pads that didn't last). Today was there first race out and once i got use to them they were freaking awsome. Its almost to much power for the tires I had locking up problems for the first few runs still I got use to them.

Where do you autocross at? I saw your from PA i just dunno where warren is hehe. If your ever lookin to hit up a autocross in western PA lemme know i race out here all the time (steel cities region SCCA) i'll hook ya up

Where did you get the Bremo rotors and the axxis pads from and how much were they ? Did the stainless steel lines do much for you ? I autocross with the the Misery Bay region. They're the closest ones to me and they about 45 min north of me in Erie.

i got the rotors outta summit racing. They came in almost 24 hours and all i paid was normal ground shipping hehe (keep in mind how close summit is to western PA hehe). As for the Axiss pads i dunno if summit has those I got the pads though my friends shop. If you can't get the axiss pads try the AEM's they seem really good. Summit will be a little more than someone like Nopi, but i called Nopi to order (their online ordering site isn't secure), and they didn't even have the stuff in stock. Summit was a little more but they have kick ass service and their online site was secure (its the little stuff that counts hehe). When i got the lines I noticed the petal was usually a little more firm, stiffer now and then, had better feel, etc. Keep in mind the main reason i changed them was I wanted to go track racing (nealsons ledges) but i didn't want to run on my stock lines with 155k on them just in case hehe. The pads were like 30 or so, and the rotors were like 50 or 60 bills i think?!?

Thats cool your race in Misery Bay, I dunno if you rember but I think when you guys had your first event alot of my friends went up there. A girl in a black tiburon, a kid in a white 4th gen Si (both in HS). And also the black ITR that won CSP and the red GSR that won ST (that GSR woops me lol) i should have went with them that day damit hehe. Sometimes i go over to ackron too. If I head up anytime soon i'll let you know. And if your ever bored and wanna head down south lemme know!

Brakes

I ordered the rotors and the axiss pads from summit today. I was suprised that they had the pads b/c i didn't see them in the magazone but i guess you just have to ask to see what all they have. I was wondering if i should take it easy for a few days when i put them on ? The pads i have on now the first day i had them on i got them so hot that they were rolling smoke and they got that nasty burnt smell to them...i think that might be why they suck. I hope this will be a good setup.

Exclamation

LOL, yes you have to let them "seat in" a little. Like when you first put them on, go out and drive, the first 5 times you brake only use like 25% of your force to stop. Then maybe the next 5 give it like 50% total force. Then just go between the two. Every now and then do like a 75% total force stop. Do this for at least 50 miles (if you can try to get a good 100 on them before taking them racing). within 3 days before racing I managed to get 90 miles on mine and they were just about right before I took them racing. Good luck and enjoy, trust me once those pads and rotors break in your car will stop like crazy!

I got the Brembo's and the Axxis pads today in the mail from summit today. The total cost was $100. To me thats pretty dam cheap. I put them on today too. I'm doin as haibb says and taking it easy and not breaking hard yet. They stop decent now but i hope once they get broken in they get a bit more bite to them.....

Thumbs up

Nice, gotta love Summit hehe.

yea my new ones just passed 200 miles...they are pretty sick for just a built stock system I love the feel. Careful you WILL be able to lock all 4 wheels while auto-xing hehe it takes a little gettin use to.

if its that bad, take the whole thing apart, take the pads out and everything, grease up the two bolts that hold the caliper on really well. Sometimes those can stick if they are dry...beyond that I dunno what else to say hope someone else has a clue

Have you checked your brake fluid?

brakes

I woudl put the stock ones back on and i would order another brembo. If you run them mismatched you might notice it and the wheel might want to pull to the side with the brembo on it after a bit.

I'm happy with my crossdriled powerstop rotors and Axis pads.
Powerstops don't rust and they have a sweet gold look.
