Unhappy Heat Problems on b16a?

I was noticing that my temp have been getting real high in my honda lately. It was up to 240 the other day and I turned it off to cool down. Then when it was right I went back on the freeway and didn't have the problem again till I got to my girlfreinds house. Then while I was stoppped the temps went back up to 240. I poped the hood and the top hose was really hot but the bottom was not even half as warm. The fan never came on either. I'm guessing it's the thermastat so going to switch it tomorrow, but the thing is the temps go back down as soon as I start driving? Get Back to me with any ideas. Also do you guys know anyone who's used an ajdustible fans switch? I would like to keep the temps around 190, they've always been just under 210.?

Re: Heat Problems on b16a?

cause when you are on the highway the rush of air is keeping it cool, but once you slow down you don't have that cool air coming in. Change your thermastate first, not an expert but that seems like it to me

Re: Heat Problems on b16a?

did you try hotwring the fan and see if it kicks on or did you check your fuse for the fan. If the fan does work you might want to try some wd4 at the wire connection. Thats all I had to do to minee ( my fan woudent kick on)

I don't think that is the first thing I would do. Why start changing things , it could be something as simple as a fuse. Check that out first then the fan it's self....
