Speaker install

So I got new frotn speakers today for my 92, I have the 4x6 in the slanted pod, the guy told me that I could install 6.5s, but when he saw the pod, he said not in that type of thing, so whatever, I got some JBL 4x6, they sounded pretty good at the store, anyways, my question is, which wire is postive and which is negative, on the driver side it's red and grey, the passanger side I haven't check yet.

Re: Speaker install

What about on the passenger side? Is every speaker a red and grey and the red is always positive?

Re: Speaker install

its not a big deal if you mix them, just connect them how you think they should be, turn it on and play some music at low volume with a beat to it, and feel the speaker, if the beat makes the speaker come outward, its right, if the speaker goes inward, switch them, just a fail safe check.

Re: Speaker install

you could have put 6.5s in. in fact you could probably have fit 6X9s. all you need is some custom mounts, which isn't hard at all. particle board works great

Re: Speaker install

Well I got it, there's the sign on the stock speakers, it's half erased, but I think I got it. BTW, I broke the circuit board behind the speaker and the speaker doesn't work, I;m ganna try to install the right side one tomorrow and see if it works cause that one still has a working circuit board, anyways, what are those circuit boards for? The guy at the store said that if I take out the stock amp, I can rip all that crap out, could he be right?

Re: Speaker install

for now, direct wiring from your deck to speakers will be fine. until you have a serious system, you won't need an amp. take all that shit out and wire your new speakers right to your deck.
