Cool Fun on I-55

I was on I-55 from Chicago down to Normal, IL and decided I was gonna make the 2 - 2.5 hour drive a little shorter. I punched my little Accord engine up to about 110 - 115 and was cruising. *There was MINIMAL traffic out there. I dont advocate 100+ driving in real traffic* I was passing the occasional 18-wheeler and state trooper (j/k ) when I saw a 00-02 Benz S600 with custom chrome exhausts and nice 19-inch wheels. I kept my pace and passed him as he was going about 90. I didnt think much of it until I saw those purplish headlights coming closer in my rearview. i thought he was gonna pass me up in a blaze of German-rice glory, but instead he just followed along behind me. Me being the person that I am decided to see how high he would take it. I inched my way up to my top speed of 127 in fifth and he came right along with me. Then he started having fun. He would change lanes and inch up like he was gonna pass me then fall back behind me. We kept this 120-127 pace for a good 45 minutes until he decided to remind me that his more than two times of engine volume could eat me alive. I watched those headlights get closer and closer, and within 15 seconds, the Benz that was about 7 car lengths behind me had me lookin at those chrome exhausts. As he passed me up he gave me a big grin and a thumbs up. "A" for effort I suppose.

By the way he was pulling away from me, iwould say he at least reached 145 before he slowed down. I guess he forgot that not all of us have an attainable 155 on our speedometers. He slowed down and waited for me to catch up and we cruised along at 120 til I got off in Normal.

My 2.5 hour trip turned into 1.5

120 mph for 45 minutes??

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Im not a genius or anything (although id like to think so), but isnt 45 minutes quite a long time for an engine to stay in such high revs without having the proper tools?? do you have your block done? does anyone else see this??

Sorry, i did exaggerate a bit. BUT we were doing 100+ for about 45 minutes. My excitement got the best of me when I wrote the post. But when I was up in the 120s my tach was at about 5200 from what I remember. I never redlined.

*No engine work guys. Im too poor for that right now. I have collegestudentitis (low cash to no cash)*

As far as gas, I used about 1/3 tank over the approx 140 miles I traveled.

Whoah it sounds like a major rush of adrenaline.

I am going to be coming up to Chicago tonight. I am not sure if I will be travelling on I-55. I sure hope so because it sounds like people do 100+ a lot on that road. It is a school trip I am going on and I am hoping to see some hot rides.
