Water pump's in - something else now!
Now that the new water pump is in my 95 Windstar, something else has cropped up. When I started it up she started making a loud chirping sound, which turned into a scream when I hit the gas. I thought it might have been the new belt which I installed, so I gave it a few good squirts of belt dressing. Didn't seem to do anything, so I took her for a spin around the block. The looks on people's faces said it all. Anybody have any ideas? Alternator starting to go? Power steering pump, maybe? Perhaps the new belt needs a breaking in period? HELP!!!

Re: Water pump's in - something else now!
I had a loud scream on my '96. It was the idler pulley, just below the alternator. 22 bucks at NAPA.
Good luck |

Hi,
If that doesn't work, replace the tensioner pulley too. Same part, but wa-a-a-ay back there. Karl |
