engine to loud

ok i got a 1988 1500 4.2L... with a striaght pipe from th cat goin into two 4" pipes sounds alright ... but from the drivers seat i still hear the engine wind its really loud... louder than my friends gmc 5.0L anything i can do to make it not as loud maybe puting a performance fan.. and ideas would be good .... all i want to hear is my exhaust lol thanks guys hope you can help
