Re: Public service announcement.

I just installed SLP bolt on subframe connectors and all I can say is wow. It honestly feels like I picked up 20 horse and the car doesn't fishtail nearly as much and while I was doing it I noticed a tranny cooler line leak that eliminated a shudder I was having on a acceleration sometimes. Completely worth the pain in the ass , the passenger side was to connect.

Re: Public service announcement.

Post whore away, I can go edit your post count to 6 , I bought them from someone off ebay that bought them but never installed them for like 200 - 220, I forget the exact amount but from SLP they are like 320 or so but you can probably get them cheaper from another company plenty of companys make the double diamonds for F-bodys. I just wanted the SLP's cause now I have the matching STB and SFC's and well worth it.

Re: Public service announcement.

Also, I took my sweet ass time putting them in and needed to do some grinding. I could have done it all in about 3 - 4 hours if I wanted to but I did a little bit over 3 days cause I have the other car.

Re: Public service announcement.

It feels way more stable and solid and I have a hard top and still must have had flex. I am sure it was the combined tranny cooler line losing pressure and the stiffer chasis but I definetly grab like a mofo compared to before and that equates to more power to the ground and less lose threw flexing.

Re: Public service announcement.

Wow, results sound great. I wanted to get some subframe connectors, but just wasn't sure if the added weight would be worth it for my lil six.

And if anyones interested in getting some for a good discount. There's still a group purchase going on (that 97CamaroRS made a thread about) over at Firebird Nation's forum. They're getting them from UMI Performance.

Summit, ebay and any other F-body performance site should sell them. As for special tools. I chose to get bolt on's because of access issue and wanting 6 point connectors but if you get weld on's ofcourse you would either need a welding torch or bring it to any place that does exhaust work to get it welded up. Although Bolt on are simple ratchet install with the occassion use of a dremel or die grinder needed.

Weight on the subframes is like 20 - 25 lbs and considering all the stuff I removed from the engine bay, that really wasn't a concern of mine versus what it does for chasis and handling. Just check out Gmperformance magazine where they did SBC, SFC and 4 new KYB struts and drop the ET's but over a half a second.

Re: Public service announcement.

don't the bolt ons lose some of their rigidness over time cuase of the bolt holes wearing out and getting bigger from the stress or do they hold up pretty good?
