Unhappy 95 Metro, Need I say more!!!

I have a 95 Metro, Lsi 1.3L 4 cyl. It was given to me not running, so It would be nice to fix and get it going!! It died while driving, 4 miles after the tank was filled.

It cranks but it won't start. Checked the fuel filter and it is not plugged. Direct wired the fuel pump, to make sure it was turning on, and it did. Checke the relays, yes there are 2, and they both are good. BUT the kicker is that the Injector is not getting any power to it, which in turn it is not spraying fuel.

I read somewhere on here about the resistor, could this be it? I have not been able to check any codes since it is an OBD-I and I have not been able to locate a meter to check them. I love the paperclip trick and I will try that tonight. I am at my wits end, since I am borrowing a car from my over baring sister.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Sounds just like your timing belt broke. I'd take a look under the timing belt cover. I bet that's what went. If the cam isn't moving, the hall sensor won't detect any engine movement, and the injector won't fire. Neither will the coil.

I popped the plug on the belt housing and had someone crank it while I stuck my finger in there. Yes I know this is not safe but, at this point I will do pretty much anything. The belt moved and it also felt pretty clean. The car has about 120,000 miles on it and there is a notation that the belt was changed at 96,000.

I also tried the paperclip jumper, but blew a fuse. I am still at a loss. I have been racking my brain for months trying to figure this out. I know just enough about cars to get me into trouble and I think that is where I am at.

Any other suggestions?

I am still trying to get something working on this. The person who gave me the car said that a repair persona had mentioned something about a cracked manifold. Not sure which manifold.

Would a cracked manifold, intake or exhaust, cause the car to not start? Remember it cranks and acts like it wants to start but doesn't go all the way.

Thank you. You guys Rule!

Re: 95 Metro, Need I say more!!!

Hi Clarissa. I, too, have a 95 3 cylinder LSI. I had to change the head on it this past summer and when I did, I got the cam caps too tight. The cam seized up and broke the timing belt. I loosened everything up, installed a new belt and I couldn't get it to fire at all. Turns out that when the belt broke the cam sprocket was pulled about 5 degrees over the locating nub on the end of the cam. There was no way you could tell without actually removing the timing belt sprocket. I scrathed my head over this problem for about 2 weeks before I finally figured it out. Anyhow, it seems to me that if you have spark and you have fuel there's a good chance that you may have a timing problem. Good luck!

Possibly a bad computer if the injector is getting no power. Does it get spark? could possibly be a bad distributor cap and rotor too. The fuel injector resistor is behind the drivers side strut tower. It's a big metal heatsink with a plug coming out of it, screwed to the firewall.
