Well...... I have looked on all the postings regarding problems with air only coming from the defrost and floor. I have checked the vacum ball (attached to the hood on the drivers side) and lines leading to it and from the intake, and I have vacum (suction). I have also checked the temp control head and have vacum to that too, (btw that has been replaced once). I have also bypassed the colored vac lines thru the control head and can get the air direction to switch, except to the vents. Also does not matter if it is on heat or air conditioning, still have the probelm.
I took the under side of the dash off and found the little round doughnut looking thing with a flap...one controls the freh air vent which is located on the passenger side behind and below the glove compartment, the other controls the defrost which is accessed by the drivers side.. that one is working too, however the third one I can not access with out tilting the dash forward and is located behind and between where the temp control is and the radio. I found the wire that gets the flap to open and it seems to be froze. Is this possible and could it be why I still have no air coming out of the vents? I went to the parts store today and had them look up what I described and they told me that it is an actuator. After looking at the diagram we figured out that it is the upper actuater and it only costs about 16 bucks...which replacing it is worth it to me if this is really the possible problem. Its going to get cold here in Nebraska real quick so any suggestions other than this would be greatly appriciated!! My husband does not seem to want to tackle this problem, but I am determined to fix this, as I have to drive it!! Frustrated but determined!! Caredy |

Well when I touch them my fingers get black and gooey...and they seem hard...not squishy...main line looks like its been replaced..no black stuff..smaller lines off the ball look like they could be replaced. I am new at this..so whats bad?

Re: 97' blazer... have vacum but still no air from vent!!
i would replace the hose going to the vacuum ball.
It often degrades and cracks and causes the vacuum ball to lose vacuum. Replace all the vacuum lines. I think they are 5/32 and are easy to swap out. Just go to your local auto parts store and get some rubber windshield washer tubing. I replaced mine and everything has been great since. BTW, check all vacuum connections for cracks and leaks. Actualy pull the lines off and look for any failure.

Re: 97' blazer... have vacum but still no air from vent!!
You will probably have to replace the control assembly.
